STOP helping criminals commit crimes against YOU!

I know a lot of parents love letting people know about themselves and their families, but too much information is a path to disaster.  One of the major problems I have seen as a security consultant is what people like to put on their cars.  People like to put political affiliations, associations they belong to, etc.  You need to understand what you put on your vehicle tells a lot about yourself.  Actually, it tells a little too much.  

I remember giving this seminar on how not to be a victim.  I gave out a lot of information about securing your home, how to present yourself in public, but it was the presentation I gave on their vehicles that opened their eyes the most.  You give out a treasure trove of information to criminals due to  what you put on your vehicles.  Before I started the seminar I sent an assistant outside to look over all the vehicles in the parking lot.  He took down a ton of information.  During breaks I used investigative techniques to turn clues given from their vehicles into actual information a criminal could use against those families.

Clues I observed and what a criminal could do with that information:

1.  Figures of family members.                                 Criminal - Now I know there is an adult female, teenage female, adolescent boy and cat in the house.  There is no adult male.

2.  My son is an honor roll student at .                    Criminal - Now the criminal knows where your child goes to school.

3.  Your last name on the license plate .                 Criminal - Now the criminal has your last name

4.  Your kids favorite hobby with the figures .        Criminal - Now the criminal knows what your child is interested in.

Now if you have these criminals follow the victims back to their house, apartments, etc.  Now they can combine this and other clues that might be available on the car to manipulate the parent or children.  Please watch what you put on your vehicle.
